Another Fabulous Weekend!

We had another exciting weekend here in Georgia--Grandma and Papop Williams came in for a couple days to hang out and see the new place! The weather wasn't so great though, so we didn't really get to get out and walk around anywhere in Dalton-we had to do a driving tour. Saturday morning, however, we did head up to Chattanooga to go to the Children's Discovery Museum, which was swell because that was something on my long list of "To Do's" while we're in the area. We ended up getting a membership to the museum while we were there so that Jacob and I can have another fun thing to do during the day-especially when it rains! Jacob really liked the museum, minus the kids ( after Jeff told him he was going to a "childrens museum", Jacob told him he "any likes kids"- loosely translated- he doesn't like kids)- there were really cool areas throughout the place, like the river place where you could put on raincoats and play in water with boats and bath toys and shoot water guns, etc. There was a play fishing boat that he enjoyed, some climbing areas with nets and slides, a face painting station, an art room, a little guys playhouse with a play kitchen, train set (thank goodness, Jacob doesn't get enough trains around here!), treehouse, etc. There was a music room, a pretend doctor's office, a dinosaur bones archaeological dig, a reading room...you get the idea. Kids like this place.

Judy and I were planning to go back to Chattanooga and go shopping but a migraine sort of post poned those plans, so instead, once Judy was nursed back to health by a few dozen Excedrin migraines (JUST KIDDING!), we went out and got pedicures which was WONDERFUL!

This morning we went to church, which was the first time I had been and heard the main pastor preach (the other time I was there, the main pastor was at another church, so we heard the associate pastor, and last week, since Jacob had a cold, Jeff went by himself and Jacob and I stayed home) and the message was incredible!! He was really great- no wonder every person we've talked to in Datlon recommends this church before THEIR OWN!! HAHAHA, it's true though! He is just starting a series in Nehemiah, which he is relating to our country's current economic situation, and what God may be seeking to teach each of us through these really hard times. Today, he talked about all kinds of different things, catching those of us who don't know a whole lot about Old Testament stuff up on what was going on in the ancient Middle East in Nehemiah's time, and, of course reading through the first chapter and discussing it. He was able to relate it in a way that made sense and made us all see that whether we are facing a hard economic time in our families or not, we need to be praying for those around us, and we need to not be examining and placing blame on all those around us, in government, etc. for the place we are today, but we need to use this time to ask ourselves the hard questions...the eternal questions...like how are our families doing? How are our relationships with our spouses, with the people at our church, our relationship with God? He just talked a lot about how our community (and really most communities) have drifted so far from the will of God, that we need to use this time to "drift" our ways right on back. This economy has certainly shown us that there are NO constants in life except for God! If you get a chance, you should check out Matt's sermon on Rock Bridge's website...my synopsis was poor, at best, of what he talked about this morning, but I know it would be a blessing to any of you who can watch the video!

Anyway, we had a great weekend with the grandparents in town, although it was a little short! Maybe next time we'll have some nicer weather and be able to do some more mountain-like, outdoorsy things!
