Swim Lessons

Here are the only pictures I got from the week (and when I say pictures, I mean picture! Ha!):

I feel really awkward about the fact that I laugh like a lunatic in this video, but at least you get a (blurry) picture of what Jacob's swimming is like.

Thomas' 6 Month Stats

Thomas went for his 6 month check up today and here we have it:

Length:  26 inches
Weight:  16 lbs. 8 oz.
Head Circumference:  big

Thomas has also been eating real food for about a month and he is LOVING it!  Totally the opposite of Jacob at this age (or up 'til he was like 2!)!  He will eat any vegetable and any fruit.  He has also eaten an entire pickle.  He has ALSO eaten mango chutney tuna salad (off my plate) and tonight he ate fresh salsa off a tortilla chip and black beans!  I mean it is kind of amazing to watch what he wants to eat!  He does prefer the food I have made to the jars of baby food--I mean, who doesn't prefer fresh produce and fruits over the canned stuff?  HA!  He's a baby with the heart of a real chef!

Also, as an update to Jacob's swimming lesson, the teacher told us that I was wasting my money sending him to swim lessons and that she had never (in 25-30 yrs. of teaching swim lessons) seen a kid Jacob's age who was so good in the water!  In the end, we are going back tomorrow for one more lesson so she can show me a little more about how to help him with his breathing...but otherwise, she said, throw that kid on the swim team next year and he'll be great!

The New Normal for Bloggerville

I suppose this is just how it's going to be these days...a blog post every once in a while that's just a big olf recap of what's been going on...told mostly through pictures.  There are certainly MANY other things I should be doing rather than blogging away at this point in my life! HA!

After saying that, I do actually hope to have another post at some point this week because Jacob is going to be an Olympic swimmer by the end of this week of swim lessons.  You may think I'm joking, but if you've ever seen the child swim up to this point, which would be courtesy-of-Mommy swim lessons, you may be wondering why we're even doing them at all.  I am hoping he'll be able to have strokes that are a little more efficient use of his energy by the end of this week.  After I typed that, I realize that sounds like a really weird goal...but whatev--it's my hope for him!

This past weekend Amy and David (and Andrew) and Bryant and Judy came into town to hang out and check out the new town.  We hung out, went out to eat and see the town, went to the pool, went to Rome and wandered, and that's about it!  I only got a few pictures from the weekend, so here they are.  What follows, are randoms from the earlier part of the week.

Jacob and his audience of one (Thomas, of course).  Jacob wanted to have a three boy band...the babes weren't that interested.

A not so great picture to show how precious Thomas sleeps---with his thumb in his mouth!
