Weekly Roundup

It seems like doing a once-a-week post is what has been working for me lately, so to keep with the like 2 week tradition, here you go:

1.)  Jacob got to play with several friends this week which was great--one group picked him up for the morning to go to their house, the next group came here (which didn't actually end up being one of Jacob's finer days, but, he's got a lot on his plate right now!).


2.)  My doctor's appt. went well this week and I only had to go once! Woohoo!!  It looks like after Jeff and I go this week, we'll probably have an induction date set for the week following Thanksgiving...unless they change their minds again! HA!

3.)  I realized that this may be my last chance to sew for a while, so I got out all my stuff yesterday and made a few baby gifts since we have 2 cousins who are going to be having babies this winter/early spring.  I finished up my projects this morning, and said BYE BYE to the machine for a little while.  Oh yes, while the machine was out, Jacob wanted me to make some PJ pants for the baby...in the monster truck print that he picked out for Daddy and himself last year.  They are pretty funny, but are in the wash right now, otherwise I would take a picture of them to post!  It's pretty funny how if you have like 2 sq. inches of fabric, you can make baby clothes!

4.)  Jacob starting playing a new make believe game yesterday...I like to call "Billy the Exterminator" because he basically does the job that Billy does on that show "Billy the Exterminator".  Jacob has quite the get-up...hard hat (so he doesn't bump his head when he's under beds or tables looking for rodents) , tool belt (for whatever you might need tools for--I believe this morning he was banging his hammer, saying it was calling the spiders or something) , cell phone with belt clip (for his MANY work related phone calls) , one of my sewing tools (spider killer) which he also was tucking into his belt before it fell out and cut his foot (yes, we're good parents to let him play with sharp objects), now he carries it in a tool box, a small tape measure (self explanatory), a flashlight (to see in those dark, spooky places), and a CVS receipt (which serves as his job list with all the animals and bugs he needs to catch for the day on it) .  Oh yes, he also has his canteen and binoculars around his neck and he wears cowboy boots.  If this didn't paint a vivid picture, how about this, resting on the couch this morning, waiting to get working:

From here he goes around the house looking for raccoons, skunks, possums, wolf spiders,etc.  This morning he was waiting on baby wolf spiders to hatch so he could get them.  Needless to say, this game is quite entertaining to watch!!


5.)  Jeff took to the yard again this morning, raking and blowing leaves, only to have to go back out in 2 more days when the rest of the leaves fall and cover the yard again!  Good thing my Dad let us borrow his push snow blower last year so it only takes Jeff minimal time to do the whole yard!  He has decided to start a leaf bag tally--he will probably be updating you on that pressing info each week.  This is today's total: 9 bags
Total for the year: 14 bags = 549 gallons of leaves and the big oak tree still has lots more to go.



Anyway, Jacob went out with him and after playing exterminator man, he was swinging on his rope swing thing and wanted to put on his cape (since it was like he was flying on the swing!).  Jeff took some pictures of this little adventure and it was PRECIOUS to watch from my perch in the kitchen!  I guess the old hormones have finally gotten the best of me because one minute I was looking out the window, watching Jeff push him on the swing, while he was grinning and squealing and carefully watching the shadow of his superhero cape blowing in the wind and I was just laughing hysterically because it was so cute, and then all of a sudden I was watching the exact same thing and was sobbing uncontrollably!  He's just so darn cute and funny and I have ( of course) been thinking about how thankful I am to have had almost 4 years with him --all by himself, before God added any more to our family!  We are super excited for the next couple of weeks since God will be adding to our family...I am just trying to enjoy the last moments we have just the 3 of us today.

Quick Update

Again, because my lack of creativity in writing these days is OVERWHELMING me, here is our week in pictures and minor captions:

 The highlight of our week---Noelle, Jeff's pal from training, came to see us/ride with Jeff for a couple days!  

 Pocahontas, where we enjoy taking all visitors to the area, mainly because we like an excuse to go and eat pancakes there ourselves!  I had pecan and pumpkin pancakes and added chocolate chips to that...because, well why not?

 Jacob helped with the first leaf pile of the year today...

 and he just kept on helping...

 and then he did a little jig...

 and then he jumped into the pile...

 ta-da!

Progress in Prenatal Terms

So, since I have had to have twice a week visits to the doctor for the past like 5 weeks (not cool, let me tell you), and weekly ultrasounds (also not necessarily as cool as some may think), I have a TON of pictures of young Thomas.  I just haven't posted them in a while...so here are a few weeks worth, and by popular demand, a single shot of my rather huge self.

One bonus to the weekly ultrasounds...I can ask them to go find certain body parts and get me pictures to make sure we are all set and ready to go---all five finger? CHECK!

35 weeks- -and no, that is not a bullet wound on his forehead.  In fact, the doctor told us the other day that sometimes the 4D pictures capture stuff that's inside the body---like, I don't know a lot about anatomy, but I'm gonna say that spot is part of his brain.

ALSO, in other big news, I had Jeff graciously accompany me on my Harris Teeter shopping trip today since it is Super Doubles week and all... and we did a huge shopping trip where we actually got stuff that we needed, like meats and produce,etc. and we got $125 worth of food for $55.92!!  WHOOP WHOOP!!

I know the subject matter is awesome and thought provoking, and daring, etc. but just be proud of my moment.  

Past Week

Here are the highlights from our last week:

1.)  I took Jacob trick-or-treating since Jeff had a migraine---good thing I was allowed to be off bed rest last week (no such luck for this week)!  Since Jeff was "migraining" I was also left to man the camera--which I think I managed a single decent shot of the evening...out of like 20!  HA!  I need more practice evidently! 



2.)  Jacob and I made Cait a birthday cake, since she was coming to stay with us this week while Jeff was gone and her birthday was on Friday!  Jacob chose the same colors for her birthday cake as he chose for his last year (which I don't know that he realized)--blue cake with purple frosting.



 

3.)  Caitlin accomplished several tasks for us while she was here:
       a.)  she picked out her own birthday present, which makes things very easy for me
       b.)  she entertained Jacob
       c.)  she made oreo balls
       d.)  she made 2/3 different chicken freezer meals
