Snail Mail Sneak Peak

I got a lovely little treat in the mail today:


This is some of the fabric I'm using in Baby Thomas' room (we are re-doing the nursery stuff since we don't have to purchase ANYTHING for this child!!) ... get excited and say a little prayer that I can do it ! HA!

( I should mention that I got another special treat in the mail today...address labels from a charity--they say "Mr. Lindsey Williams"--perfect, I'll use them)

Hanging out at (Chesapeake) Bayside

As exciting as it is to be able to say that you live in an area called "Bayside", as in the Saved by the Bell high school, it is even more exciting that we actually have a beach a mile from our house. The unfortunate thing about that statement is that up until this past week, the three of us had not been to the bay beach to swim! In the winter last year, Jacob and I used to ride my bike over to the beach to play with his cars in the sand, but never to test the water with our toes! Well this week we went almost every afternoon after Jeff was done working and it was great! Jacob loves it because there are still waves, but they aren't as strong as the ocean which means he can freely run and jump through EVERY wave, instead of just the ones that aren't over his head! Here is a taste of our time down there:

A Few Crafty Creations for Babe and Me

I finally decided to give this whole crafting thing a shot again after a several month hiatus, and I think things were pretty successful:

1.) Instead of spending $30 on a summer time maternity shirt, I bought some elastic thread for $1.24 (plus tax) and a yard of fabric for $10 and here's what I made:

2.) I also had wanted another pull on skirt like a black one I got years ago at Old Navy, so, again, instead of purchasing one, I used that same $1.24 thread to shirr the top of some fabric I had inherited from Grandma (aka FREE) and turned that bad boy into a skirt:

I had some extra fabric, so I decided to take the sides of the skirt apart and add some pockets.

3.) And, so that the unborn babe doesn't feel left out, what with all the maternity sewing, we got some orange and purple Clemson fabric for a blankie quite similar to Jacob's own love of his life.

The Millseseses Come to Visit

Yes, that's right, Lisa and Lyn came to visit this week and enjoy the 110 degree weather. Who doesn't love a balmy summer day where it's so hot you want to pass out and vomit? So anyway, besides the weather, we had a lovely visit with the two of them and did a few exciting things:

1.) Beach: We headed to the beach the first day they were here and tried to stay cool in the water. We did a little "surfing" (Jacob standing on his boogie board and "catching" some waves), some boogie boarding, some sitting, and some eating. We then packed up our camp and headed home to the A.C.

2.) Hibachi: We went to a Japanese steak house for dinner after our day at the beach. I had been wanting Japanese for a couple months now, and we just knew that Jacob would love the tricks that the Hibachi-master could perform right before his very eyes, so it seemed like a good choice. Well, surprise, surprise, Jacob hated it. Hmmm...interesting. I mean, he's been so easy to get along with and all lately, what a shock that he would start bawling the second the chef at someone else's table rolled his cart out to start cooking. (the previous statement was filled with sarcasm) He was actually screaming (At least that's the way I recall it going down) that he wanted to leave and not see anyone cook. He was terrified of the fire, yet couldn't take his eyes off it long enough to calm down and listen to everyone at our table telling him that we could ask our chef NOT to do any fire at our table! In the end, he thought our chef was funny (which he was) and liked the way he cooked. He kept saying really loudly, "Maybe one day our chef will learn to make fire" because he had told Jacob he didn't even know how to do fire.

3.) Williamsburg: We went over to Williamsburg the next day to check out the Colonial part of town, Merchant's Square, and the outlets (obviously). We got into town a little before 10 am and were completely done with our "self-guided"tour of Colonial Williamsburg in about 15-20 minutes. The heat was just a little too intense---and not just for me--for Lisa and Lyn too!! Lisa was practically running through the sun to get to the shade, knocking the elderly out of her way and all. We got some candy in the candy shop(or shoppe, if you're feeling British) and then headed over to grab a sandwich and enjoy the greatest hits album of Michael Jackson for lunch!

4.) Aquarium: Another activity that Jacob was really excited about before we got there, and then somewhere along the line, things didn't go the way he wanted at the aquarium, and he was HORRIBLE! Needless to say, we're about ready for this "phase" to pass. Oh well, at least Lisa and Lyn had the opportunity to get really psyched about the day that they have kids that are 3. That's a good thing, I guess?

Jacob's Vacation in Pageland

I would like to start this post off by letting everyone know that Jeff and I were not in Pageland for Jacob's vacation, so we are just guessing at the captions we will be giving the following pictures! I'm sure just by checking out that ultrasound face picture, you already know the sex of Fetus Williams (sounds like Venus Williams when you say it! HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!) , but for those of you who aren't quite as "astute", I will state the obvious:

We got to see Fetus W. hiccuping and sticking his tongue out which was pretty cool! (On the 4D picture...not the black and white---which also leads me to note that that's what the picture above is...a picture of his face from the 4D thingy)

I think that's all for now! Oh, wait, the baby is healthy and all measurements look good so far-- due date is still set for beginning of December--4th to 7th ish. Please, if you think of it, keep our family in your prayers over the next months! God has certainly heard our prayers thus far and we are so thankful for that!

Lackluster Update

I say "lackluster" because I have not taken even a single picture in the past week and a half. That means I didn't capture any of the weekend when Bryant and Judy visited, my birthday, or any of the fabulous things that Jeff and I have been up to this week. Because Jacob is in S.C. this week with Bryant and Judy, that did allow me some extra time to "paint" you a visual or two.

To begin with, Jeff's parents came into town on Friday night and hung out for the weekend. Saturday was filled with a breakfast trip to Pocahontas, an afternoon at the beach, dinner at Chick's, a game of Putt-Putt, and then excessive vomitting (only for one of us) 'til the early morning hours.

Jacob did a great job at putt-putt--getting THREE hole-in-ones on an 18 hole course!! He's a pretty phenomenal golfer! Here is my rendition of our time at Putt-Putt:


The next day was my b-day, and we went to church, packed Jacob up to go back to SC, and then went to care group. Jacqui, our friend, who was hosting care group that night made a strawberry covered cake for the big event! Here is my interpretation of that:



Since then, it's been just the two of us--which means lots of sleeping, cleaning, and a few adventures outside the house. I also went to meet Mom in Williamsburg on Tuesday to wander and eat a lot of chocolate in the heat. Again, no pictures to document that either. I will update more on what this week has held for us later...

Fourth of July, Va Beach style

Well, as you may recall from last year's Fourth of July festivities, Jacob ended up LOVING the fireworks. I wish I could say the same for this year. What with his overly-sensitive ears, we decided to bring some noise-reducing headphones just in case the "pops" got to him. Well, he wore them the whole time, and still claimed it was too loud--and wanted to go home. HA! Yea right! We don't give in that easily! By the end of the evening, he and I were laying down on the blanket, hiding our faces from the fireworks, but darnit, we didn't go home!

BUT, enough about Jacob's night! We were very happy with our first Va Beach fireworks experience! We only headed down to the North End about an hour before the fireworks were set to start much further south on the beach, so we were taking our chances (we thought) with finding a spot to park. Well it was not crowded at all up that way, and we had no trouble finding a spot to park! It was nice and cool out on the beach--not hot and humid like it has been, and we had plenty of space around us...which is always an added bonus if you ask me. People were setting fireworks off all up and down the beach (and right around us) all night long, so it was like a little side show to keep us entertained while waiting for the big ones to start.

Our ride home wasn't even too bad--not at least in comparison to last year's hour and a half Chattanooga parking garage fiasco--the whole night just went very smoothly when I block out Jacob's unhappy self.

I did forget to mention that pre -fireworks, Jacob was so excited about the evening and we did a video asking him to explain what he was going to see and why he was excited, etc. Although he was just talking big, here is the video:

We went to the beach yesterday for the morning, and here are a couple pictures of Jacob doing his "surfing". Jeff and I also did some serious boogie boarding , however no one captured those precious moments!
