As Promised (a week and a half later) :THOMAS! (He's 2 months old today!)

Well, I finally sorted through some of our more recent photos of little Tippy Thomas (one of Jacob's MANY nicknames for the baby) and have compiled what I hope you will agree is a nice variety of shots from his typical day:

This first picture shows him in all his cuteness before we left Pageland a couple weeks back.  Amy and David had bought 2 of these shirts when they found out they were pregnant with Andrew (one to give each set of grandparents to announce the big news!)  and thank goodness we got pregnant as well and had a baby in 2010 so the extra shirt didn't go to waste! HA!  The plan had been to get both babies in the shirts at the same time, unfortunately I think there was only a total of 7 minutes the whole weekend that both babies were awake and happy at the same time...which meant no cute matching shirt pictures:(

Here is big brother Jacob helping give "Little Buddy" (another name he calls Thomas) a bath. He is very helpful in taking the diaper off and splashing water on the baby to keep him warm.  As you can see, Thomas loves a good bath and will quiet down instantly if he's cranky before you stick him in!  Jeff and I take showers with him as well because it's a little quicker sometimes and he loves that equally well!  The first time he took a shower, he slept through it! HAHAHA!!  Tonight he just stretched back in my arms and smiled and cooed.  Already a little water boy like big brother!

Poor Thomas!  This picture documents how relaxed he is.  He just sort of hangs out all day long...up until just a couple weeks ago, he would hold his head up...occasionally...otherwise he would just be bobbing around, slumping over in his Boppy or on a lap, etc.  He is just quite laid back...certainly compared to Jacob, good grief!  That child could hold his head up IN THE HOSPITAL and was bearing all his weight on his legs IN THE HOSPITAL!  Can we say gung-ho about life outside the womb?  But Thomas, he's interested in a slower pace.  This is surprising to us considering my interesting pregnancy where nurse after nurse was shocked at how active he was in my tummy!

This is "Tom Tom" (another name from Jacob) being cute, and looking IDENTICAL to Jacob at this age, on the floor.  He likes to kick around and stretch out on the floor for minutes at a time!

Here he is with a bit of a smile.  He's been smiling for about 3 weeks now (where we know it's actually smiling and not something happening in his diaper!) but it has really picked up in the past 2 weeks.  He has started lots of talking (cooing) as well which is so precious and is one of the most beautiful sounds in the whole world I think.

Again, just relaxing and looking mighty plump!  He is going on Monday for his 2 month appt. so I'll know for sure how much he weighs then, but I think it will be a lot!

After Thomas took a test drive in Andrew's vibrating chair in Pageland  a couple weeks ago, he decided he wanted to invest in one for his home!  So he did.  He's so-so on the chair-just like his swing--although he does love the lion toy that hangs over his head! I personally love the chair and the swing because they take up some of that pesky free space in our house that I'm always trying to get rid of!

Again, looking precious.  His eyes are VERY dark blue, as you can see here (and in the first picture)...and I'm holding out hope that that means they could turn brown and he could look like me!

Building up his upper body strength with a little tummy time.  He didn't like this particular position...but it did give him easy access to his wrist!  I should add that he doesn't try to suck his thumb/fingers (unless he's starving)...so I don't really know what he was doing here.  He much prefers being flat on the floor and on his tummy as pictured below.  As soon as I laid him down like this today, Jacob yelled, "MOM!  He rolled off!"  Thomas had rolled over and off his blanket!  By golly, maybe he's not as laid back as I thought!  He's turning into a mover and a shaker!

So you're probably thinking, "yea, this is all great, but how does Thomas like to spend his leisure time?"  Well hold your horses, here we are.  Thomas and Daddy take in a Clemson basketball game on the computer.

Here is Thomas in his other gadget...his baby pod.  We tried him in it for the first time today, and although we were doubtful he would be able to hold himself up enough in it...he did it!

This is one of the pictures that captures as close as we can get to a smile!  Every time he is happy and smiling and cooing, we grab the camera, and as soon as he sees that big disgusting black thing, he clams up and stops smiling.  Don't worry, we'll get a great one soon!

All in all, we're pretty happy with old Thomas.  No, we're THRILLED with Thomas!  I have told so many people that after the trouble that we had getting pregnant, and thinking that our kids might be too spread out in age...God has once again proved to be so much SMARTER than I am! HAHA!  Shocking!  Thomas is the PERFECT addition to our family and Jacob is still so in love with him.  God's timing and spacing for our family was much better than what ours would have been!  Since Thomas has been here, I've spent one feeding a night (which he sleeps 6 hours at a time!  whooohooo!!) praying for our family and thanking the Lord for Jacob and Thomas.  I told Jacob the other day that God used and is still using him for a VERY important job- he used him to help bring me to know Jesus.  And God has used Thomas for an equally important job-to help grow my faith and obedience to Him.  Children are a blessing from the Lord (Psalm 127:3) and I couldn't be more thankful for God's kindness to us in both boys!

And finally, the verse that I prayed throughout this pregnancy and have continued to pray:

"For this child I have prayed and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him"
1 Samuel 1:27

Thomas...making tracks to new destinations

Yes, that is a Thomas the Train phrase that I used above...get with it!!

But in all seriousness, Thomas (and the rest of us) have been all over the place lately!  Two weekends ago, we headed up to destination #1,Richmond, so he could meet his Aunt Cait and other family members, and go my cousin's baby shower.  He was a great sleeper for us there so that was a nice and easy way to break us in for his first out of town trip. I realize that old Thomas doesn't get a lot of air time here on the blog, so soon I will do a post informing my 3 readers about what he's doing, etc.  Maybe I'll even do a photo shoot so he can have a few solo shots on here!  Anyway...

Destination #2:  Pageland, SC

We headed to South Carolina shortly after returning home from Richmond to celebrate Christmas with the Williams side of the family and for another cousin baby shower!  When we got there, there was still snow on the ground from earlier in the week, coated with ICE..and lots of it!  It did melt a good bit throughout the next few days, but when my buddy Anna came to visit one afternoon, it did get the best of her!  We were following Jeff and Jacob and Thomas to a restaurant for lunch and we hit a slick spot on the road and spun all around!  It was pretty exciting, but, we were quite thankful that no one got hurt!

Thomas got to meet his other great grandma this week too:

And, Jacob got to play with Daniel and all his cool toys!

Friday, as I had mentioned, my friend Anna came over to visit and see the baby and slide around on the ice and then that evening our friends from Seneca came too!  Unfortunately, we have very few, if any pictures from each (sorry Anna!) visit!

This was also the first time that we had gotten to see Amy and David's new baby, Andrew!  There was lots of baby-passing going on!  Jacob loved Andrew just as much as Thomas...it was funny when both the babies were around, he would run back and forth between the two saying, "I think I'll go see my baby cousin Andrew."  or , "I think I'll see my baby brother Thomas". He had so much baby sitting to do it was ridiculous!  I don't know how he had any time to play.

David and I swapped babies to see if we wanted to trade!  JK!!!!

Jacob teaches Amy how to feed Andrew (again, JK)

Saturday morning was the baby shower where we celebrated who we think is going to be Abigail Katherine Mills (but we will have further confirmation of that after the ultrasound today!).  I finally got to try out the whole tissue paper pom flowers that are all over the interwebs (please use that term in daily conversation..it will make you look really smart and tech-savvy)!  I bought the paper a few weeks ago and was a little worried they would look like a kindergarten art project, but they were really as simple and cute and as everyone has said!!

Accordion fold, trim, and....
VOILA!

Next, it was post-Christmas gathering time.  The young ones opened gifts and then the grown people did a $10 gift exchange which I really like because a.)  it doesn't cost very much money   b.)  you can be creative with your gift and how to get the most for your $10  and c.)  then we get a little present too!!  They also took a big group picture, but I didn't have it on my camera...I will post it when I get it.

 Jackson and Jacob

In the mean time, I got sick while away, the baby didn't sleep well, and now Jeff is getting sick, so that's all the traveling and blogging for me for a while!  I'm off to nap!

Note to readers

Do not use Kodak Gallery for photo books.  We have ordered a couple recently and they look terrible.  The customer service is rather poor as well.

In the future we will use Shutterfly or Snapfish.

Thank you
Jeff
ps I really don't like poor customer service.

Visitors Galore

Well, as you can imagine, between a new baby and Christmas, we've had our fair share of visitors lately!  Unfortunately, I/Jeff didn't snap pictures of everyone doing everything that we have done...but here is a smattering:

I thought I had posted a picture of Dad visiting right before Christmas, but alas, I did not...

Bryant and Judy came this past week to stay for a few days.  We went to the aquarium (it's our go-to adventure when people come to town!) , swam at the pool (at their hotel), went out to eat to a new restaurant and we LOVED it ( all local food, but diner style...and my milkshake was so big that I filled my glass 2.5 times!!!), opened some Christmas presents, and played around the house a bit!

When Bryant and Judy left this morning, the weather was really nice and I have been dying to take a walk...

Jacob rode his bike, Jeff ran along behind with the camera, and I pushed the babe...it was LOVELY to get outside in the fresh air!
