Bryant and Judy came down to visit late last Thursday night and stayed through yesterday morning--and we crammed a lot of stuff in for basically a 48 hour stay! Jeff was supposed to have been back in town on Thursday around 3 pm, unfortunately, because of weather issues at one of his connecting airports, he had to spend the night somewhere (maybe Ohio, I couldn't keep up because it took him 6 different planes to get from D.C. to Chattanooga!!) and didn't make it back here until 3pm on Friday!
So anyway, that meant we had Friday to explore Dalton while we waited for Jeff to make it back safe and sound, which thankfully, he did! We went to the pool that morning so they could see Jacob swim, then we quick like bunny rabbits, got ready for lunch and headed over to The Filling Station for an all-you-can-eat Southern extravaganza. Then we walked around downtown and went to a few gift stores and, of course the toy store ( which Jacob now calls the "T-O-Y store"--because we've been spelling it a lot lately). The rest of the afternoon was spent at a few more gifts stores while Jacob was napping, and then, once Jeff got back without any luggage, a trek up to Chatt. to eat my early birthday dinner at Provino's--because who wouldn't want to gain 10lbs. at their birthday dinner?
Saturday was a long and hot day!! We went up early to Coolidge Park and brought every bat and ball we could find for Jacob (and Jeff) to play with! Jacob and Grandma and Popop rode the carousel a bunch of times while Jeff and I threw the football so many times that my arm still feels like it's going to fall off this morning! We ate lunch over on the North Shore and then walked across the pedestrian bridge so we could go over to the art museum and take some pics overlooking the river. To finish off our day up there, we went to a few more shops, where Jeff found a used book store (it's his new favorite type of store) and finally, we grabbed some ice cream!
Throughout the weekend, Bryant and Jeff reconstructed Jacob's train track and gave him a whole new look to his own personal "Island of Sodor"--that's the island where Thomas the Train and friends live--DUH!!
Here are some photos to supplement the vivid pictures I am sure my writing has painted in your head ...
