Oct. 26: Big Day of Praise!

So yesterday was a really fabulous day all around!!  Days like yesterday remind me of what an awesome and loving God we have...who would care for us all so personally...

1.)  Andrew was born yesterday ( Jeff's sister's baby) and everyone is doing well!  He was just a few days LATE, but no biggie--he has patient parents!

Please look at how cute Andrew looks in this picture!  (oh yes, and how cute those random parents look too)

I know Bryant and Judy are SUPER thrilled to have a baby that is so close-by to play with now!!

2.)  Jeff and I went to the doctor yesterday and all is still good with the baby we've got brewin' but some more really great news is that the doctor thinks that I can ease off bed rest!  AND, he cut me back from 2 visits a week to just one!  We got some more ultrasound pictures ( which brings our total to 8,000) but one of them is so crazy real looking (I do realize that we have a real baby inside me, it just is weird to see a picture)!  Will post later maybe!

Mish Mash

So many random pictures for you...

Handstands and kartwheels outside
Another handstand

Mandy brought us dinner and some enjoyment one evening---maybe one day Jacob will take a precious picture like this with ME!

Another picture I took to prove I know how to use the new camera...Jacob was explaining to Mandy the difference between a tortoise and sea turtle.  I honestly can't believe she made it this far in life without knowing the difference.
A snappy sewing shot taken by the professional in the house, Jeff.

Bethany and Nate came to play with Jacob one day and got some enjoyment out of the dress ups!

This picture is too HILARIOUS/ sad... Here's the story:  over the past 8 months young Jacob has gotten used to/numb from witnessing me get sick (yes, I still get sick about once a week, but it's not that bad at this point!) and I guess thinks it's cool now.  The other afternoon he was eating his ham and cheese roll up at lunch and got a little piece of something hard in his mouth and started gagging.  He spit up a tiny bit of it and I told him he could spit up on the plate if he needed ( this story is getting grosser and grosser I realize), to which he informed me that we only spit up in the toilet or in the sink (with one bathroom in the house, if it's occupied, I have been forced to do things I would rather not...and obviously Jacob took note).  I was like, OK-- and so he said that he thought he needed to go to the bathroom...I followed with the camera (naturally) because I just knew he didn't really need to get sick, that he was just thinking it was cool to imitate what he had seen me do.  I just laugh every time I see this picture because he is trying to do just like I do-aka NOT getting all down on the floor and stuff and trying to just stand and be speedy about it.  *Jacob, as I suspected, did not get sick in the end*

I whipped this bad boy up today and think it's just fancy enough for a young tot!  I also made a changing pad cover the other day out of the orange minky and it was super easy--if you have a sewing machine and a 50% off coupon for Jo Anns, you should definitely make your own covers and not buy them!  On another Jo Anns note, I decided to buy a "Boppy" pillow this go round, since I ended up nursing Jacob for a really long time and didn't want to spend the money the first time in case me and nursing didn't really take...well the only thing is, this gal's not spending $35 on one of those stinking pillows!  Good news though, you can get the same pillow form from Jo Anns (regular price $20) and with a 50% off coupon, get it for $10!!!!  It's also very easy to make your own cover, but I think I'm going to just shell out the $10 and buy one to save Jeff another trip to the fabric store (this could all change tomorrow if I can talk him into going for me).  Bottom line: don't get suckered into spending $35 when you could spend $20 (or less) at Jo Anns!!

A New 'Do

I was released into the world for a couple hours on Saturday and I went to get my (much needed) haircut. I told the gal I wanted it all cut off and she ( and the salon owner and everyone else working there) was like, "I don't think that's such a good idea." At first I was slightly insulted because I actually like my hair short, but then they explained themselves, saying how they don't like to do drastic changes to pregnant gals because those cuts normally end in tears. I tried to convince them that I'm not a cryer, but she said she'd rather not. HA! Anyway, she still cut off like 6-8 inches, so it's considerably shorter, and I do really like it, so I'm satisfied for now. Here's a precious shot for you:

Our Newest Little Addition

As you can see, when I titled this post "our newest little addition", I wasn't referring to a baby, but a camera.

Jeff bit the bullet and bought a DSLR the other day while he was working in Charlottesville. We are now officially committed to this whole photography venture (i.e. we are more financially invested in this piece than anything else we have EVER bought together---but no, we haven't ever bought an appliance, TV, car, house,etc...so we don't spend large sums of money pretty much ever) and are now really hoping that we will get money for Christmas/birthday so we can pay for this bad boy! HA!

No, but really, the opportunity presented itself, and I was really hoping we could get it before Christmas so that we would have it when the baby arrives, so this is perfect timing, because we'll have a little more than a month to practice to the point of perfection before that beautiful red-splotchy, crinkled up newborn subject makes his appearance. Besides, if that's not enough reason to push us to master this camera now, think of the life-like HD type shots of me, postpartum, we can now capture. Talk about a real knock out.

Since Jeff has been back in town for 24 hours, here is the progress we've (Jeff) made:

So, it turns out Jacob's really into posing for this camera. It looks like he's our main subject right now...grandparents who are wanting to print out pictures from the blog can thank us later for making this investment---your pictures are about to get a whole lot better!!!

The Couponing Life and a Little More...

I am positive that everyone's favorite part of this blog has been where I post our coupon deals, so with that in mind, here you go:

Paper towels, toilet paper, 2 boxes tissues, contact lens cleaner (for the 0 of us in the house who where contacts), 6 Revlon nail polishes, razor blades, bleach, toothbrush covers, and (not pictured) a bag of little army men for Jacob.

Here's the twist for you.. I am now on a "modified bed rest" (whatever that is), so no more shopping for me (or cleaning, or cooking, or child care). BUT THE SHOW MUST GO ON!! Which is where my multi-talented husband Jeff comes in! He did our CVS shopping and Kroger shopping this week and here's how he did:

Kroger: got $150 worth of groceries and paid $93 after coupons
CVS: well, the picture says it all...but he paid $14 for all of that (and got back $10 ECB)

With some scraps (and free time on my hands) of fabric left over from the crib bedding, I decided to make a "travel friendly" blanket for the babester...here it is: (if you are getting ready to have a baby and get one of these from me, please pretend to be excited)

A Trip To Pageland

A couple weeks ago we headed down to Pageland for Amy's baby shower (she's due the end of October) and a "farewell tour" of sorts. The next time we are back down that way, we'll have a fourth person in our family!

Anyway, the shower was a success I'd say since there was lots of food and Amy got LOTS of presents!

Jeff and his dad and Lyn were all on child-duty during the shower....there was Jacob, his little cousin Jackson, his cousin Daniel, and (I think they're cousins) 1 year olds Lincoln and Lucas! They were busy with boys! You may notice from this picture, that I didn't take a picture when everyone was there together--so use your imaginations!

During the rest of the week, while Jeff went to Atlanta for work, Jacob and I hung around and played with his great-grandma and cousin, went to Charlotte to hang out with Lisa and Lyn and then Rock Hill to see Amy and David. At some point, Jacob played golf...and that is about the only other thing that was documented throughout the week!

Here is a shot of the pieces of Jeff's t-shirt quilt that his Grandma is making for him! They are laid out on a KING size bed!

Jacob in his cart

Papa and Jacob sporting their golfing attire

Playing out of his (and I would suppose every golfer's ) favorite spot on the golf course---the sand trap

And one random pic for you---this is Jacob and his choice of food at the Neptune Festival down at the boardwalk the other day---a GIANT corndog! hahahah! GROSS!

Additions to the Nursery

Here are a couple more of our projects we completed this week:

1.) Reversible Pillow for glider:

2.) Letter Canvases to go on wall:

I will be attempting to repair the bumper pad tomorrow, by adding some more ties and some boning to help it stand up better...wish me luck! I saved the most boring project for last!!
