Pool, plyaing, and other adventures from the past week!

We have had a really action packed week, and I simply can't wait to share it with you all!

Let's begin with the under the crib adventure of Jacob and Jeff...



Shortly thereafter, Jacob went to the pool with his buddies, Sam and Emily! There were a few adult chaperons there, as well...we didn't just drop the babies and leave! Sam and Emily had just finished taking swimming lessons, so Jacob was a little behind, going into the morning swim, but it didn't take him but a couple minutes to become "fearless water baby" and jump in, going all the way under!



Finally, Jacob, Daddy and Mommy went back to the woods to grab some more blackberries...and Jacob was a little muscle man, and pulled his big wagon down the road to "harvest" the berries in.

After blackberry picking in our neck of the woods, we decided to head out to The Happy Berry, which is a farm where you can go pick your own berries. Jeff and I had been when we were in college and had picked like 9 pounds of blueberries in 30 minutes, so we figured we could take Jacob and get at least a few pounds before we all had heat strokes. We got out there and picked quite a few berries, so we could mix them with our blackberries we already picked, and throw them together into a cobbler (pictured below)! Jacob enjoyed picking for about 15 minutes, and then just wanted to run up and down the rows and up and down the hills!

I thought I had a pretty good idea the other day when Jacob, Rebecca, Sam, Troy, and I went out to Clemson's riding center to see the horses. I mean, every time we see horses, talk about horses, play with his stuffed horse, whatever, Jacob gets all excited and goes, "neigh, neigh!", so I thought it was only natural to take him to see the real thing...besides, he had been once before in Massanutten, and had liked petting the HUGE horse! Well, long story short, he wasn't into this idea the other day! Sam was super excited to be there and put the baby horse,etc. so that made up for Jacob's lack of enthusiasm! Jacob was more happy to see pigeons than horses...that's right, pigeons.

Happy Fourth of July!

In order to really be able to properly focus all of our attention on the holiday at hand, today ( el cuatro de julio), we went ahead and took care of the whole "fireworks" business last night. Well, really what we did was go and see the fireworks that Clemson does each year over the lake. There were a few more people than I had expected---let's put it this way---I didn't think that many people lived in Clemson and Seneca, much less would they all come to see fireworks. It was nice, we kept Jacob awake looooong past his bedtime, which he seemed pretty thrilled about, and he made it all the way through the pyrotechnics show in the sky! He just didn't want to watch the fireworks from where we were sitting- evidently it was a little too close for comfort. So Jeff took him further away and he seemed to really like it. I might at this point mention that we were not by any means "close" to the fireworks. We were probably about 1/2 mile from where they were shooting them off! Anyway, at least Jacob got to see fireworks, and I got to watch them by myself on the blanket!

Weekend with the Grandparents

This past weekend Jeff's parents, Bryant and Judy, came down for Saturday and Sunday, bringing with them a lovely new-to-us set of sofas for our living room(courtesy of Amy's fiance, David)...which means, yes, we have retired (we actually passed them along) the green, navy, red, goldy, striped-sort of things we had before, and now we are grown people with a living room that looks much more modern, and put together (well, maybe not yet, but we are working on it)!

Anyway, we just hung out, got Jacob a new pool with a slide, ate some ice cream, etc.
