A Little Catch Up

I haven't been great about taking pictures lately, so for that reason, I have been avoiding posting anything new because, let's face it---you're not interested in reading what I write, you're probably interested in just browsing---checking out the pictures! Well, I have a few pictures from this past weekend and this week which should keep you semi-entertained!

On Friday night we finally went to one of the Norfolk Tides baseball games. Jacob was THRILLED to be going and to prove it, wore his baseball batting gloves (and of course brought his real glove to catch those foul balls). He kept thanking Daddy for letting him get to go to a real baseball game! We got there early and all he wanted to do was find our seats and sit down and watch the guys warm up. We forced him to walk around some and check out the food and souvenir shops--but to no avail. He wasn't impressed with anything he saw- and since the only thing he wanted was a t-shirt (which they didn't have, nor would we have probably paid like $20)--he still wanted to just go sit and watch so he didn't miss anything. He was pretty impressed for most of the game and eventually needed a perk-me-up consisting of a pretzel and cotton candy. This also kept him occupied for a bit longer. He was not impressed (at first) with the fact that they "played the same songs 100 times", but by the end, he was dancing up a storm every time one came on. In fact, he tried to teach himself the YMCA, which was pretty cute!

When things weren't going his way (we were not in our seats)

What a difference a couple minutes (and your own seats) make!

Jacob and his cotton candy

Waiting on that foul ball to fall into his glove--it was quite the disappointment when he realized that not everyone (i.e. him) got to catch a ball during the game.

In other news, my new life of CVS shopping has really been paying off. Last week's trip looked like this:

A Not-So-Wordless Wednesday

A lot of bloggers out there have "wordless Wednesdays" on their blogs, where they just post a picture--maybe something silly from their daily life, etc. Well, as you may be aware, I am a gal of many words, so "Wordless Wednesday" seems like the worst idea in the world to me. In lieu of that idea, here are some pictures and my explanation to accompany:

1.) I kind of forgot about updating the progress of our garden. To catch you up on what's been happening out there over the past 2 months: All our beans died. Our cucumbers are producing something- not really sure if they're cucumbers or not. We have a squash that appears to be finished growing and is the size and shape of a kiwi. Our green peppers are working on giving us something edible--probably in the next week or so. But the tomatoes have been our pride and joy. We have gotten TONS of tomatos--they don't all look pretty, but speaking as a tomato lover, I can say that doesn't matter one bit! They are a million times tastier than anything we'd get from the grocery store and we spent a whopping $1 on seeds--which have produced at least 20 regular sized tomatoes (so far) and even more cherries. That's a good return on our investment, if you ask me. Here are our recent picks:

2.) I got a burst of energy this afternoon ( after napping for about 15 minutes, and then being woken up again by the young one who was kicking, etc. ) and decided to do something useful with myself. I'm going to try to start making some more food that I know Jeff likes (because normally I like to fix pasta for every meal because that's MY favorite), so I started by trying to figure out a macaroni and cheese recipe. Why I decided to tackle this without a recipe, I don't really know, because that's not how I cook. But I did...and it turned out REALLY tasty! SHOCKER! The only problem--I didn't write down even an estimate of quantities of ingredients. Oh well--maybe next time. Here is what Jacob and I had for dinner (nutritious, I know) :

3.) But don't think I stopped there... because I didn't. There is almost nothing that excites me more than having all the ingredients in the house for a recipe-and I had everything to make some pumpkin muffins! I was just telling my friend Maria tonight that I was just itching for fall to get here and I think this recipe proves that.

4.) Jacob has been really into dressing up, which I had mentioned in previous posts--and this morning, at 7:30, I heard him switch his light in his bedroom on, and about 15 minutes later, he showed up in my room wearing this:

Buzz Lightyear drinking his Carnation instant breakfast

Back in his Buzz costume for dinnertime. If you notice, there's a picture on the table facing Jacob. He prefers to have the picture of Bailey, Cohen and him to look at while he dines.

5.) I realized as I wrote about the baby kicking that I haven't mentioned much about any of those pregnancy "milestones". I first felt the babe kick at 14 weeks--and so did the doctor at that appt! That was the visit where she was a little shocked at how much movement was going on so early. Jeff felt the baby kick about a week later. Jacob has yet to feel him kick---the other night he ran up to me and slapped me in the stomach, and I was a little perturbed until he said that he was giving Thomas a high five! Oh, silly me! So basically, over the past 3-4 weeks, I have been waking up (already) because of these "little" kicks at night, and of course using the restroom about 3-4 times per night. Fabulous! God is preparing me early on for sleepless nights! In other news, I finally started feeling better 2-3 weeks ago, which is great news!

Some Videos

I have decided I should try to do some more videos of Jacob just talking and singing, since he comes out with some pretty funny/amazing stuff sometimes and I am sure I will forget it! Here is a music video:

Bedding Pics

So, in our "let's get this taken care of yesterday" style, I have sewn almost all of the bedding for the nursery in the past few days. Because of this, Jeff decided to set up just the crib in his office (the will-be-nursery) so we could showcase the work and use it as a giant storage bin, of course. The best thing about this project is it was all under $80 for everything! So, thanks for my birthday money last month, because here's what it bought:

and... to showcase the built in pocket for all of the Babe's necessities

Bedskirt

Fishy curtains

Fishy mobile

Close up of stuffed fishies

So, all I have left is to make a pillow for the glider and we's set! So now, all that's left to do is sit around, twiddle our thumbs and wait for the first week of December...

A Taste of Jacob's Life

As I'm sure you're well aware--Jacob is a kind of jack-of-all-trades. His interests are wide and varying and sometimes surprising. He doesn't limit himself to the "typical" 3 year old interests, but is a renaissance man of sorts. Here he is partaking in some of his hobbies:

1.) Athletics: Jacob is very into sports--baseball, football and golf (and running) are his main ones right now, but anything where he can justify wearing his new cleats is a winner in his book. When Jacob plays football tackling, he likes to wear his full Clemson uniform so he can really look the part. Here he is showing no regard to the fact that Kristi just got into town after an 8 hour drive in the car...he shows no mercy.

2.) Work: Jacob doesn't merely live a life of leisure. He commits himself to hard work day in and day out. Ever since Daddy hit up a fab kid's consignment store the other day in Forest, Va ( I have never heard of it either) and picked up some "fancy pants" , a tie, an orange and PURPLE polo shirt ( WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!!), some cleats (and a few other things non-apparel items), Jacob has been REALLY consumed with office work.

New dress pants, tie, and polo shirt (which he insisted on wearing together)

3.) Shopkeeping: After Jeff got all of his Pepsi's for .49 cents apiece, therefore buying out the whole store, Jacob has had a lot of work to do at his Pepsi store. He has moved all 16 of them back and forth throughout the house, restocking and selling them to his customers. Here is a picture he took of his store:

4.) Recreation: With all of his hard work, he still has time to play. Here he is at the beach the other day where Kristi and I buried him in the sand.

A Few Extras:

When Kristi and fam came, she brought us a box of diapers for Baby Tom Tom, and a bag full of CVS free goodies. This is just a taste of what my life as a new CVSer is going to look like:

Yesterday, before the Holmes' left town, they took me to CVS for my inaugural shopping trip. I thought it was a pretty good deal; they, however, were not impressed with the fact that the manager wouldn't let us use some coupons that they say you are ALWAYS able to use. These gals are pretty insane though with the amount of stuff they get for FREE at CVS. Jeff was checking out one of Kristi's receipts the other night, and at the bottom, it shows current spending and current savings for the year. Her spendings were $100 something, and her savings were $1,000 something! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Needless to say, Jeff is VERY interested in my pursuing this type of shopping for our family. I'll keep you posted about our next trips to CVS and how they turn out.

Finally, I got another piece of fabric for the nursery in the mail yesterday, so hopefully that means I'll be getting started on all this stuff soon---still a few more fabrics to pick out, but I should be able to at least start now!
