What Can You Do, Jacob?

I thought that some of you loyal fans may be interested in what exactly Jacob can do these days---he's 22 months-not yet 2, but he is full of energy and has TONS to tell us...

1.) Sit on the potty and flush the real toilet (he doesn't do anything on the potty, he just pretends)
2.) Can pick out people in pictures and refers to himself as "Gabo" --he can't exactly say "Jacob" very well
3.) When he is not nice to other babies his age, he says "dorry" and gives them a hug
4.) He can count to 3, but he prefers the #2 most of all
5.) He tries to identify colors of objects...but when asked, most things are "blue, green, or purple"--in that order--so basically he's still working on that.
6.) He can kick a ball, quite hard and pretty accurately, throw a football--hard, catch a football--sometimes, hit a golf ball, throw a frisbee, and roll all types of balls.
7.) He can go up and down steps by himself, with no holding hands, and with no railings---my dream come true...we're waiting for a big fall.
8.) He can say lots of words---"apple juice" "meatball" "gunk daddy" (Duncan that we babysit...I told Jacob to call him Dunc Daddy one day and it stuck) "play in grass" "dark" "bright" "watch tv" "mickey" (mickey mouse) "excuse me"
9.) Sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

Pumpkin Carving in Seneca

Don't think the fun ended after the pumpkin patch--oh no, no, no!- the fun had, in fact, just begun! Jeff was off to carve a few more Halloween masterpieces. Jacob just clung to his favorite pet pumpkin--no carving for him.

Pumpkin Bonanza 2K8

Yowzers, did we have quite a falltastic day! We were just revelling in the fact that we are having autumn weather this year AND we got to go to the pumpkin patch...and the two finally coincided! Our church organized a trip to the pumpkin patch/farm that is out towards Anderson, so we went and spent the morning there. Jacob got to swing on a rope swing on top of bales of hay, ride in a cow-tractor, look at goats, pigs, sheep, and a donkey, and finally, take a hayride out to go pick pumpkins.

Papa Steve is visiting this weekend, so he got to witness all the fall fun too...plus he added an extra set of hands to help us haul our FIVE pumpkins back to the car. That's right, we got 5 pumpins...Jeff is an avid carver. As you may recall, last year, he carved tiger paw in his pumpkin, well, since it was such an overwhelming hit, he wanted to do that again this year. BUT, he wanted to do that in addition to his new one. His new creation was pretty darn cool---you'll see some pictures later.

Anyway, Jacob picked his pumpkin as soon as we got out off the hayride-it was the perfect size for him-and he carried it with him for the rest of the time we were there. He carried that thing everywhere. He was/is awfully proud of his pumpkin...he gave it hugs, sat with it, jumped over it,etc. It's too little to carve (plus if we carved it, he wouldn't be able to haul it around like a baby), so I will probably let him paint it in a couple days (will attach photos later).

Pageland Weekend

We spent this last weekend in Pageland, checking up on Jeff's heart at the cardiologist on Friday (all good on the homefront) and then having our post-wedding bridal shower with Jeff's family and friends on Sunday. Jacob got to ride on his REAL tractor which has a gas pedal and all this weekend, so he was thrilled! It was pretty funny watching him drive that tractor because he knew that if he pushed down the pedal, he would go, but he didn't quite get the whole "steering wheel" phenomenon. Here are some pics from throughout the weekend, including a couple pics from the shower which was a HUGE success, and by huge success, I mean there were tons of presents! ahahahahah--no, but really, Judy, Amy, Debbie and Lisa all did a SUPER job putting it together and it was a lot of fun...

Hanging on and swinging like a monkey--he did this for about 30 seconds, he is insane sometimes and he's not even 2!

Playtime with Duncan and Jacob

Jacob and Duncan have really had some serious bonding time over these past couple weeks, since Cadence started going to pre-school in the mornings. I think that Jacob actually enjoys being around Duncan and thinks he's funny now---before, he was just plain scared of the whole situation! When we were over with Duncan a couple days ago, I got Jacob to start calling him "Dunc" because he can't pronounce "Duncan" at all! Jacob interpreted this "Gunk". So he yells, "GUNK!! Push you!" Loosely translated, this mean, "Duncan, please come push me (Jacob refers to himself as "you" because that's what we say to him --like, "you need to get your cup") in this stroller".

Anyway, these are some pictures that I took last week when I wheeled the guys down to the lake to play for a while...
