Smokin' Hot May Day

So, the heat that we saw back in March seems to have made it's way back this past week...only this time it it probably for good!  That means that when we're outside, we pretty much have to be close to water, otherwise some of us (me) will melt into a puddle.  Here's a day we spent with the Long gals (and Jonathan):

It started with a little painting en plein aire:

Which ended like this:

Thankfully there was a sprinkler and a couple pools set up!

And then from before church today, Jeff had a shaving accident, and I suppose Thomas did too?

or maybe Thomas is just a little mimicking monkey man!

And Another Video

Playing with the Hoerls

Our friends the Hoerl's came over this morning while big sister Emma and Miss Heather are out of town...and we did a little early morning sprinkling, followed by a quick trip to the pool!

We went to the pool last night when Daddy got home from work...here he is attempting to rocket launch the baby:

Pool

Here are some more pictures from the boys (and their friends Mia Katherine and Abigail) swimming around the pool:

Coupon Update

So, after 2.5 years, I think it's time for a couponing update!

Over that time, I've stayed consistent with shopping at CVS for toiletries, occasional food items, and all paper products...but grocery coupons have really been a more off and on thing!  I always shop the sales, as in, I'm not loyal to one store, although I way prefer Publix to any other store in town...but pairing coupons with the sale items has been a random thing since Thomas was born.

Over the past few months, after settling in the new house, I started really getting back on the ball with cutting and USING the coupons for our normal groceries each week, and today was a particularly fantastic shopping day for me and my coupons!  Here's a shoot of all my junk:

Total Value: $173.85      Total Spent: $70 exactly   Total Saved: $103.85 or 67% off! (and got back $3 ECB at CVS)

Here's what I got:  (4) 12 packs Pepsi, (2) salad dressings, bananas, corn, A1, vienna sausages, oatmeal cereal, (6) frozen pancake/french toast thingys. (15) canned tomatoes, (7) assorted BBQ sauces, marinade, spaghetti sauce, (2) alfredo sauces, (2) peanut butters, apple juice (2) gallons of milk, butter, chocolate chips, box of capri suns, graham crackers, turkey bugers, chocolate candy things, sunscreen and nail polish (not pictured!)

So, again, this was a GREAT week for groceries...not the norm...but who knows?  Maybe it will be soon!

(As a side note, in case the four...or maybe 3 of you reading this are wondering what meals I can make with this, I buy meat when it's on sale and have a huge freezer in the garage, so with the food I got today,  I have enough to make 8 dinners...and all our lunches and breakfasts)

Piddling Around

Here's a bit of what we've been up to:

Baseball at the park:

Caught a foul ball in his face...

Look at Jacob's sweet face!

Bear Hug!

Playing with dirt at the park:

Gymnastics with Grandma and Silly Papa in town:

Outings to the Booth Museum and Euharlee for dinner:

Thomas carries a big stick/branch/tree

Grandma drops her head in disappointment...probably that I am busy laughing and taking pictures of Thomas tottering across the bridge with a limb in his hands rather than taking it from him??

Painting:

Building garden things:

Swimming on OPENING DAY of the pool!:

Besides the fact that the water was a tad bit chilly, T-dawg loved floating around

Jacob was a fishy again!

Our buddies, the Longs, happened to be in the neighborhood...

And they stayed to play/eat dinner: (Thomas really enjoyed bringing every single monster truck we own to Miss Jenny)

And, a picture from a couple weeks ago that I forgot to post:

Jacob made some visors for himself and little bro bear

Coopers Furnace on a Fine Spring Day

It was a nice and coolish-warm morning so we decided to go for a little hike at Cooper's Furnace.  We packed a picnic lunch to eat once we got up top to the overlook and just hung around bird watching, bug catching, and things of that sort.  Here are some shots from the day:

Picnicing

Balance beaming on top of the mountain

Avid bird watcher

Hoping for a peregrine falcon...he knows the names of all sorts of animals I've never heard of!

BAAAAH!!!  He spotted a mother bird!

romping around

Catching lady bugs...even Thomas found one in the grass

Thomas' response to "where did your bug go?"

Heading back down

In case we get lost/stranded, Thomas gathered fire wood all the way down!
