A Glimpse into the World of Jacob

Just a few pictures and happenings from the last few days for this morning's post...

UPDATE: The growth of our garden--we have lots of tomatos, but all else is looking a little bleak. If we ever harvest a zuccini, it will probably be in September!!

After Jacob and I wandered over to the park yesterday morning (in the 90 degree heat), we decided that filling up his baby pool in the shade of the backyard was probably a good idea! And since we were really feeling wiped out, and didn't want to go through the hassle of fetching him a bathing suit from all the way inside the house, he just swam in his underoos. After swimming for approximately 2 minutes, he decided that he was mad and wanted to go inside, but I wasn't in agreement on that plan, so I "forced" him to find something to play outside a little longer. His next activity was climbing "like a monkey" in the fig tree in his undies. This is when he got bitten by numerous ants who were also climbing in the tree that particular morning. This led to another dip in the pool to calm the itchy ant bites. That worked for a little bit--well, long enough for him to head back over to the fig tree and pick a few unripened figs to throw in his pool and use as "fishies" that he would catch with his bucket. He then broke out itching and scratching again, so we raced in the house for a shower and that promptly ended our morning out!

Sprinkling his figs into the pool

Last night, Jacob miraculously didn't throw a fit when asked if he wanted to pray, and instead, jumped right into it. He was praying so very sweetly that I asked him if he wanted to pray one more time so I could record it- ha! He, again miraculously, said YES. So here is a version of his prayer:
